Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I live in NYC. My husband of over 20 pluse years filed for divorce in 2007 and I contested...he was NOT granted a divorce. he has been living with a 20 something yearold since the before onset of the proceedings. He is a 25 yr NYPD 2nd grade detactive. We have a finicial court ordered agreement on file. I just found out he has put his papers in to retire. Where does that leave me? Should I file for divorece now or wait and see what he does?

You have an entitlement to a substantial portion of his pension and other deferred compensation. You should retain an attorney and commence an action for a divorce - looking not just at pension but at all forms of deferred NYPD compensation.
