Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I live in the state of New York. My husband abandoned me almost 6 years ago. He has hidden from me and refused to speak to me since the day he walked out. I would like to get a divorce so I can get on with my life. I have been told that I can't get a divorce unless I know his exact address so he can be served the papers. I have no idea what his address is. My question is, is there any way of getting around this obstacle and still get a divorce?

What you've been told is wrong. If he can't be located you can still get a divorce.
You can get what is known as a divorce by publication. It is not cheap or quick, and few lawyers know how to do them. Our law firm handles these types of cases. Contact us for more info. Http://www.nycdivorcecenter.com
Yes you may still obtain a divorce. I strongly suggest that you hire an attorney
The court will require you to use due diligence to find him. Many law firms utilize private investigators. If you have his social security number it is a plus but is not required.
