Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I live in New York State, Onondaga County....I currently pay child support to my former spouse. My 18-year-old daughter is now attending college full time and is living in a dorm on campus...is it possible for me to have my child support changed to college support paid directly to my 18 year-old daughter. If yes...do I file a modification petition?
