Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Living with Family

My wife, 2 young children and I have been living with my mother in her house for 2 years due to an unfortunate financial crisis. We need to occupy the premises for only one more year. She has threatened to ''kick us out'' of her home mainly because of recent personality clashes and our inability to pay her rent. Please tell us if we have any legal recourse to this in the event she does insist on our leaving? How long do we have before we are required by law to leave?

Re: Living with Family

You need to provide more details for an accurate assessment of your situation - most importantly, the terms of your agreement/lease If you're living there without an agreement, then your month-to-month tenancy can be terminated on thirty days notice. Consult an experienced attorney to evaluate your options.
