Legal Question in Family Law in New York

locating divorce papers

I have misplaced my divorce papers. I was divorced in January of 1997. The divorce took place in NYC through a lawyer who worked for the union that my ex-husband belonged to. He is an employee of the NYC Housing Authority. I have no idea where to begin looking for this information. Could you please send me in the right direction.

Go the courthouse for divorce in the county where you lived when you were married.

Look under your name. Ask the clerk for help, if necessary.
