How long does a divorce index number last? Does it have an expiration time? I am residing in New York

The index number does not have an expiration date, however, ordinarily the plaintiff has only 120 days from the filing of the summons and complaint or summons with notice in which to serve the process. After that the permission of the court is required to extend the time for service.
