Legal Question in Family Law in New York

How long to divorce?

My wife and I agreed to divorce. No children, no properties, no joint bank accounts , nothing that we could share.

We just want to sign the papers and leave. How long til we can get the divorce and each of us move on with their lives?

Re: How long to divorce?

The time period for an uncontested divorce depends on the willingness of each party to agree and sign the divorce papers.

However, assuming that divorce papers are signed and submitted today to the Queens Supreme Court, it takes that particular Court approximately 6 months to enter a Judgment of Divorce.

Re: How long to divorce?

Just filed for clients in Putnam County and should take about 2-3 months. So, it depends on the court but you can figure at the max about 6 months. If you need assistance please feel free to contact me.
