Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I made the mistake of being with a married man. I have an 8 month old baby with him. He was never there for her and now all of a sudden wants to take me to court for custody or visitation rights. I am terrified, considering the fact that I barely know this guy, and I found him on the registered sex offenders list. Our court date is coming up and I am trying my hardest to find evidence that will go in my favor and deny him visitation, supervised or not. I don't want someone like that around my baby. This guys wife left him and took their kids with her. Now he believes that he has every right to try and make me pay for what I've done, so to speak. I just want this to be over with and whatever happens I want it to be what is best for my daughter. Which is why I am trying to come up with a good case. I am not sure what papers I need for something like that. What kinds of things do I need to bring with me to court for custody and child support matters? I hope this doesn't sound too jumbled around, I have a lot on my mind and I just want what's best for my baby like I said.
