Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am a US male who married an Ecuadorian woman 16 years ago in her home country (she is now a US Citizen). She does not wish to grant me a divorce. However, I wish to divorce this lady in order to remarry and start my life over. Must I divorce my wife in both countries? Or just in Ecuador? Or just in the USA? Thank you.

One divorce is sufficient - from either country.
