marriage responsibility

Married in NY in 2000, not legally seperated. No children. Isn't my spouse legally binded to help pay off bills( student loans.) Once married they become OURs? Please reply to me via e-mail [email protected]

If the debt was incurred prior to the marriage, then it is your separate responsibility.

If you are not considering divorce, then the law is the wrong tool to use to resolve this problem with your spouse.

Your question relates to the 'marital estate'. Both assets and liabilities (debts) incurred before the marriage usually are not a part of the marital estate

Not unless he signed as a guarantor of the loan. This was a separate liability incurred prior to marriage and he received no benefit from the loan.
