Legal Question in Family Law in New York

If I got married in Jamaica, and never registered or filed a marriage license in NY, am I really married? The county clerk says there is no record of the marriage. Do I need to file for a divorce?

Yes, you're married.

The county clerk doesn't need a record of the marriage.

If you want to get divorced, yes, you need to file like anyone else.
