Ouch. That hurts.
Whether or not you must support your soon-to-be-ex-wife depends on many things, two of which are the relative standards of living the two of you enjoy (i.e., if you're a multimillionaire and she's unemployable and she has become accustomed to your standard of living over the course of the marriage then you would likely have to provide spousal support; if the reverse is true, then SHE would likely have to pay you spousal support), any prenuptual agreement that may exist between the two of you, any separation agreement that may exist between the two of you, whether you adopted her child when you married, the deal your lawyer can wrangle for you (you HAVE hired a lawyer, yes? If not, you need to do that NOW) and any other relevant factors.
Given all this information that I don't have, it's not possible for me to definitively respond to your question. I do, though, wish you all the luck in the world. Now go hire a lawyer!!!!
If money is truly a factor for you, you can take this matter to your county's Legal Aid Society. To find them, run a GOOGLE search on "legal aid" ; be sure to put "legal aid" in quotation marks, as shown, and substitute the name of the county in which you reside for . Thus, your search string might read:
"legal aid" richmond county
Good luck!
