Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I am married for 26 years to a man that I have not lived with. We got married for his convenience as he is from Haiti. We both live in Brooklyn, NY, not in the same household. He is 62 years old. I am 48. I want to file for spousal support because I lost my job and now live in a womens shelter. I only know his last known address and nothing else except that I have a certified copy of the marraige certificate. Also he is 62, when can I file for his social security and what else do I have coming

Even if you locate him, in NY if there has been no contact or support for over two years there is a very small chance you can recover anything. If you get welfare the state may try to find him and get back what they paid for your support.
As to social security, once you reach retirement age you can apply for social security based upon his income. You are eligible to receive half of the amount he would have received as long as you were married over ten years.
