Legal Question in Family Law in New York

matrimonial law

I'm doing a client's seperation agreement. Does a seperation agreement have to be filed in the country where the parties lived? Or can the attorney just draft the agreement, get the parties to sign and not file it? I'm a new attorney that needs your help!

The SA must be filed in the county where the parties live. There is a minimal fee for filing.
