Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Medical Coverage
Divorsed- ex-Husband carries the health insurance for two children. Ex husband goes out of work on worker comp. When out of work the options the ex-husband has is to 1. have the cost of medical be taken from his workers comp check 2. when work resumes they will deduct back amount from his weekly check or 3. If on workers comp longer than a year you loose your position and are terminated from your job. At which time the worker will be obligated to pay the whole amount of the insurance in full.
In this case the ex-husband was terminated, he recieved his final check and notice that the company deducted things from his check - the ex-husband assumed that they deducted the amount for his insurance. THat was not the case therefore, the insurance for the entire year was never paid. The insurance company went back to hospitols, doctors emergency rooms ect. and requested all payments made ''no coverage''. Now I have recieved, addressed to me $3700 in medical bills which I thought was taken care of through insurance. I do not have the $3700 in question, I now have medical bills being sent ot collections when I have had prefect credit.
Is there any legal action I can take to correct my credit and not be obligated to bills

Re: Medical Coverage
Assuming that the premium cost, is less than the outstanding medical bills,...
Suggest that you cooperate with EX, (possibly former employer's personnel officer, attorney, etc.), payment of your Ex's insurance premium/s for the year, So, that the insurance company covers the medical bills.
Then, if necessary, petition the family court for a judgement (to be enforced as child support arrears), for your reimbursement on account of
Good luck,
