Legal Question in Family Law in New York
misrepresentation of value of marital property
My ex-husband is now selling marital property for double what he claimed the value to be in our divorce settlement just months ago. I trusted him based on his expertise in real estate and his father is also in real estate and is currently the listing agent, so I accepted very little money compared to what he's planning on getting for the properties now. Can I sue him for misrepresentation and work out a new settlement?

Re: misrepresentation of value of marital property
You can sue him, but I doubt you would get very far.
You and your ex were in an adverse relationship and it was not reasonable for you to rely upon his representations. You probably should have hired your own expert.
