Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Missing spouse

I have all the papers to file for divorce, but have no idea where my wife is. I haven't seen her in over 15 years. Do I put an ad in the newspaper myself or do I have to have a lawyer do this? I filed for an index number and have 120 days to finish this and don't know what to do next. Can you help me?

Re: Missing spouse

You need to do a "Due Diligent Search" for your spouse. Last known address, license, etc.. Then file the affidavit of your diligent search with your request of the Court, to "Serve" by Publication. A Reputable Process Service or investigation company may help in your search and service.

GOOD LUCK,
