Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Money judgement/childsupport.
I have a hearing for non support. The non custodial parent is not paying his court ordered child support and he is in arrears over $8, 000. The majistrate talked about granting me a money judgement. What is this and why would it be beneficial to me?

Re: Money judgement/childsupport.
A money judgment is a piece of paper that amounts to a determination by the court that you are entitled to an amount of money. If you have such a judgment and can locate assets of the debtor (the non custodial parent, in this case) you can use the judgment to legally seize the assets of the debtor.
