Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Mother sending harassing letters.

Ive seen my mother twice in 2 years and in that time she has sent me 4 nasty letters. I usually just ignore them but this last one she sent me was extremely vicious and is threatening to call child protective services on me for sitting my children in chairs and other nonsense. I just wanted to know is there anything I can do to get her to leave me and my family alone and stop harrasing me?

Re: Mother sending harassing letters.

My mother has had similar experiences with her natual mother and sister. It's very hurtful, but my mother always told me she tried to remember that these people were mentally ill and it reflected their illness, and nothing about her.

My mother said thinking about it that way helped. Inever believed her. It can only be very hurtful.

This is a matter for the police. Go to the local precinct and make out a report. Ask them to 'have a talk' with your mother and then make an 'order of protection'.
