Legal Question in Family Law in New York

moving

I'm in court right now but I would like to get a second opinion. I would like to move before my next court date but I was told by my lawyer its not a good idea, I'll be moving only 35 miles away and within the same state, to get a better enviroment and a bigger apartment for my son and I. The court did not stop me from moving and the visitation will remain the same for my son's Father to keep everything in a legal aspect. Thankyou very much.

Re: moving

As long as you're in the same state, don't miss any court dates, and the move does not change or prevent your spouse from seeing your son, I don't see any problem with it, but your lawyer might have some very valid concerns with respect to a move. Perhaps you should discuss this with your lawyer asking his specific concerns. Then you can make an informed decision on whether moving is a good idea for you or not.

Should you like to discuss this or any other legal matter, you can call my office to schedule an appointment for a consultation or in the alternative, I can be reached for on-phone low-cost legal consultation at 1-800-275-5336 x0233699.
