Legal Question in Family Law in New York

NY Uncontested no kids waiting period after filing?

Hello, my wife and I are in the process of being divorced. We filed ourselves, uncontested: her as the plaintiff- reason:abandonment on my part as of March 2004. No children are involved, and our agreement on any assets was mutual and signed together and included with filing.

Any idea of the approximate time we will have to wait before the divorce is final once it was filed under these circumstances? (New York, Suffolk county), and how would we generally be notified?- The judgement is just sent to us in the mail and that's it? or do we need to take further action? thank you.

Contact your Court's "pro se" Clerk's Office for answers to your questions.

Generally, schedules, time frames and etc., re calendars and procedures tend to be particular to the Court.

Good luck,
