Legal Question in Family Law in New York

nyc police pension

If you have been married for 23 years and the wife files for divorce because the husband has been having an affair. The pension is to be split, but what about the hidden line that the husband doesnt ck off the box of his pension that if any happens to him and he wants to make sure his wif gets his pension, he doesnt select that box. What can the law do to him because I thought the nyc pension dept doesnt over see that and once that box is ck there is no going back. what right does the wife have???

A domestic relations order issued by the judge in the divorce case will contain terms protecting the wife's interest. These orders are usually reviewed by the NYPD Pension Fund prior to being signed.
