Nys alimony payment laws

Does one have to pay alimony if the receiving spouse gets remarried in the state of NY? The divorce agreement does not state that the payments can stop if remarried, death etc. I was informed that the alimony does not continue when my ex wife remarries or should die regardless of the divorce aggreement, is this correct?

Generally, maintenance, as it is called in NY, terminated upon the receiving spouse's death or re-marriage.
