Legal Question in Family Law in New York

order of protection trial

My attorney is unable to attend, court refused to adjourn prior. Can the judge hear the case if I request adjournment to have my attorney present? Other side will have attorney present.

Re: order of protection trial

The court would be foolhardy to take the attorney's failure out on you. Do not agree to proceed without an attorney. Ask your attorney for his advice and stick to it. He should have filed a affidavit of actual engagement. The court should honor that, even if it is unhappy about it.
