What are the ownership rights of real property purchased before a marriage during divorce proceedings

Subject to certain limitations, ordinarily such property is considered separate property, and not subject to equitable distribution. However, the limitations are important, and could alter the result in your case.

David is correct. However, the increase in value of the property during the marriage is subject to equitable distribution.
