Ownership of wedding rings

My husband & I are separating and would like to know is my diamond and wedding band mine or considered joint property? The value is $3000.00 total for my set.

If your engagement ring was given to you before your marriage, it was a gift in contemplation of marriage and is not marital property. Rather, it is your separate property. Any rings given after the marriage are marital property and subject to equitable distribution.
