Legal Question in Family Law in New York

parent rights

my cousin and her boyfriend lived together for almost 2 years they got a place together and ended up having a baby couple months later. the security they got to move into their place was a gift from the bf's grandma. fast forward- they ended up breaking up and he left her- no job and penniless.(she was told she didn't have to work after she had the baby). he ended up shacking up with someone and she stayed at the apartment with no money living there with her son. now the rent is up and they get some money back 800 dollars now who should get the money and should he pay her more than 100 dollars a week for the 7month old baby?

Re: parent rights

This is what lawyers and the Family Court do every day: we help people in this situation.

Your friend should keep any and all money that she has and not transfer any money to him. The deposit should be given to her.

She must go, today if not sooner, to the Family Court and petition for 'support' and 'custody'.

It is not necessary to have a lawyer, but recommended.

My fee for this would be $500 (that is discounted to account for her situation). This is very time-consuming and includes several court appearences.
