If the court order states you have to pay the mother, you have to comply with the court order. If you want to start paying for college, books, transportation, gas and car insurance directly, the safest thing to do is to file a petition to modify the court order.

If you don't want to do that, the alternative is to request invoices for college, books, and car insurance, and send the check directly to the mother, made payable to the individual entities. Make sure you note its for child support on the check and make sure you divide it out in writing and send the division in e-mail to the mother. Of course, if she doesn't like it, she can file a petition with the court for contempt. The court will determine if your new arrangement is appropriate.
