Legal Question in Family Law in New York

payment of child support contract

I am willing to pay child support, the father and I have agreed that I will pay a certain amount every month twice a month to co-incide with my pay period and that we are doing this between us and not the courts. But I need to write a contract that is between the father and I. Basically stating how much and when the payments will be made. I also want to compose a reciept system since I do not have a checking account and don't want to be caught with my, so to speak, ''pants down''. I do not have a lawyer and not much money to go to one. I need any help I can get before the 9th of February which is only a few days away. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Re: payment of child support contract

The agreement must include specific language referring to the statutory guidelines for support in order to be enforceable. I am curious about the nature of your February 9th deadline. Child support agreements are tricky. I suggest you consult with an attorney experienced in child support and custody law. My number is 212-367-9167. I do not charge a fee for the initial consultation.
