Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Pending legal action

My wife of 22 years has informed me that she is no longer happy with our marriage and wants out. I have 2 children ages 19,18. I have a $8,000 fund that I am using to pay for college. This semester I didn't need to tap into it I put it on my credit card. Should I be thinking about cashing out the fund and paying off my credit card before she serves me with papers? Also, last year I purchased a $36,000 car if divorce is in my future should I be lookin to sell this car and get out of the payment before she serves me? Thanks

Re: Pending legal action

To answer your questions without more information, would be a disservice to you and might prejudice your case.

You should gather all of your joint financial information for at least the last five years.

Then, immediately schedule an appointment with an Atttorney for CONSULTATION. Take your info with you to discuss the particulars of your circumstances, and any questions you may have, in detail

Do not delay obtaining information required for you to make an informed decision as to how you should proceed.

GOOD LUCK,
