Legal Question in Family Law in New York

pension

I have been married 25 years and was forced out of my home by my husband due to domestic violence. my children were living in Florida since December 0f 2006. they are now 19 years old. I sent the children down to live with my family because I was trying to be amicable with my husband about the divorce. I moved here in May 2007 and have been supporting the children without any assistance from him. As a matter of fact, I had to pay him $1000.00 a month until the house was sold. it is now reduced to $500.00 a month and the house did sell. His lawyer refuses to provide my lawyer with a closing statment so we can start negotiating the martial bills that are left. They have provided us with no documentation since day one which I filed in december of 2005. How can they continue to refuse to provide pertinent information to the courts. I have an hearing date of June 11, and would like to know if the Judge can settle this once and for all. We do not have any martial assets because we owed more that what the house could pay off. He is retired from general motors and gets 30,000.00 a year pension and social security disability. I received 51,000.00 a year from my job as a nurse in Florida and I have the children. Help me

Re: pension

A Judge cannot settle a case. Only the parties may settle a case. A Judge can only render a decision on the merits of a case.

Your best off pushing for a quick and final solution of this matter.

Mike.
