Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am currently in the process of ending a 10 year on and off relationship with a woman. This woman has a history of mental illness and social economic problems. She also has attempted suicide twice as well as been admitted to the mental hospital 3 times...

She is currently living in my home and has all her belongings there. She has threatened to hurt me in my sleep as well as burn my home down. She has also told me that if I leave her she will go to the police and accuse me of rape.My question is this how do I handle this situation. Please help..Thank you

If she is threatening you with physical violence, contact the police and file for a protective/restraining order against her. It's a crime to threaten someone with physical harm or property damage. Once you request an emergency order, she may be forced out of your house. Again, this is a two part suggestion

(1) file a complaint with the police regarding her unlawful threats; and

(2) file for a emergency order with the court.

Good luck
