Property Sttlement

4 years ago when we bought a house, my mother gave us money towards our down payment. Now we are divorcing, and selling the house. Is my mother entiled to all of her money back before we split any profit?

Absolutely depends upon the intent of the parties when mom gave $$; was it gift or did she expect money back? I suspect you feel that as the marriage did not work out that u owe her the money; but I think that is not the case abd that it is customary for the parties to take the money for the purposes of enjoyment of the property; both you and ex spouse should feel free to enjoy the profits that come from the sale of the house
