Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Is there any way i can protect myself from an abusive ex boyfriend?

Hello, Thank you for reading my question. One month ago i ended an abusive relationship. My ex was very abusive mentally. He has periodic episodes with anger and drinking. He was abusive physically on some occasions, but i never contacted the police although a big part of me wanted to. We were in a relationship for 7.5 years, and it took me the last 4 to gather the courage to leave him.

The last month has been very quiet, with no word from him. But recently ive been finding large thick chunks of glass under my tires. And i have this horrible gut feeling that he is looking to hurt me in some way.

Is there anything i can do to protect myself? I dont know much about legal terms. But my family is worried also, and they think i should try and get some kind of restraining order or something like that.

I appreciate any advice, many thanks to you.

you can get an order of protection but it would be difficult to prove who put the glass under the tires. call me at 212 683 8677 to discuss
