Legal Question in Family Law in New York

My question is this what are my legal rights dealing with Domestic violence? Why I am wondering I like to separate from my abusive husband. I have been living in Domestic violence since Jan of 08 and can't get anyone to listen, that includes my family his family, pastor who married us, and the community I live in refuse to listen. Most of my family are blinded by the abuse they go through. He denies me my family, financially controls me, not allowed out of home and only get out 3 days which to go to church and to visit our neighbor. He also denies me my medical and meds, he forces me sexually, yet get told I can't divorce him unless he commits adultery according to the bible and my pastor. But I can separate but in need of help getting into a place to call my own and to get my personal belongs from here and my moms. Also he has a hissy fit when going to church to get way from him and his abuse. I am stuck here, no place to go or money to get out. What can I do and who can seek to help me? Shelter is out of question, they are full at moment.

Alan Joseph Alan L. Joseph, Esq.

You should contact SAFE Homes or some other domestic violence agency for assistance. You could get a divorce in NY on cruel and inhuman treatment. You may also want to discuss this with the police. He could be arrested and you could receive an Order of Protection against him.
