Legal Question in Family Law in New York

relocation

I am planning to relocate with my 11 yr. old son. I have custody, my ex has liberal visitation. My ex-husband summoned me to court to try to stop me. Do I need an attorney?

Thank you.

Re: relocation

If you feel that you are capable of representing yourself then you do not need an attorney. If you feel that it would be beneficial to have representation, then you should retain counsel.

Re: relocation

If moving is important to you, it certainly would seem a good idea to be represented by counsel, particularly if your husband will be represented.
