Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Removal of barriers or remarraige

My Question is,

when a marraige is performed by a clergymen or a minister and the defendant waives the right for the plaintiff to file a sworn statment of removal of barriers to remaarriage, does that mean that they cant get remarried at all? civil or ceremonial?

Re: Removal of barriers or remarraige

When the defendant waives the right to have the plaintiff file a sworn statement of removal of barriers to remarriage, it simply means that the defendant does need any additional "religious" steps taken by the plaintiff before the defendant can get remarried. Either party can get remarried after the judgment is signed.
