Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Re-Opening My Divorce

I was divorced eight months ago and my ex husband got almost everything! I was totally taken advantage of by his promises and lies that we would be together again someday and I was also seeing a therapist at the time, so my state of mind was not very good. I have nothing now and am renting with our three children and can't get a mortgage, while he is in a 5 bedroom home on 5 acres with many ''play'' vehicles, tools, equipment, etc. - while all I got was the vehicle that I was forced to trade. If I did not trade it to remove his name then I would have to have given it back - so now my monthly payment on this new vehicle is almost $600! He has everything & I have nothing except the children which he does not even help me support. PLEASE HELP!!!

Re: Re-Opening My Divorce

It's difficult to answer your question without knowing what the divorce judgment says and what papers you may have signed in connection with the divorce. Certainly he has an ongoing obligation to pay significant child support, without regard to papers that you signed. You may be entitled to a lot more than this. But your question requires a more detailed analysis of the actual facts of the case. Jeremy Morley 1-888-393-1923
