Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Repeated Contempt of court/Denial of Visitation

I filed contempt of court charges in NY against my ex for denial of visitation for my kids. The judge gave her a verbal warning and also granted me weekend visits. My ex requested to take them out of the country for a "vacation"(she REFUSES to work and just live off the $650 p/m in child support). The judge permitted travel from 7/5-8/17, and wrote it on the court order. I was to pick them up on 7/4, but she refused, even after I was escorted by an officer! I have not spoken to my kids since, and she phoned to say she would not be returning on 8/17, SINCE SHE HAS AN "OPEN TICKET"! I am frustrated and need a solution! What, if any, are my options?

Re: Repeated Contempt of court/Denial of Visitation

Contempt of court may not be the best remedy here.

Visitation is a right, both of the non-custodial parent, and of the child.

Suggest you consider a change of custody.

Hope this helps.
