Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Representation in Family Court by non-lawyer

I know that a party is allowed to represent him/herself (acting pro se) in Family Court Proceedings, however, is a party allowed to be represented by a non-lawyer, such as law student, tax advisor, legal advisor, private citizen? If so or if not, where in the written law for NY state could this information be found?
