Is it possible to request a trial by jury in a matrimonial (divorce) matter in New York Supreme Court?
If yes, who can request the trial by jury and who needs to approve the request?

Yes, but under almost every circumstance it's a really dumb idea. While Domestic Relations Law Section 173 authorizes jury trials on the grounds for a divorce, there is almost never a good reason to do it.
You should consult a qualified divorce attorney before attempting such a move.
