Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Retirement benefits

I am entitled to a percentage of my ex husband's retirement benefits acording to out divorce agreement. He works for the federal gov't; specifically the post office. Do i need a QDRO order to be able to collect this money when he retires??

Re: Retirement benefits

You need the PO's document, rather than the commonly used QUADRO format Court form.

The PO has a different method and system (from what the "QUADRO" was set up for ). The PO has its own internal documents and procedures respecting retirement benefits for spouses, that your attorney needs to prepare in conformity with the Court order for distribution.

Good luck,
