revoking guardianship

how does a girl 15 years old go about taking her guardianship from her parents and giving guardianship to a family friend, 40 and owns a house and has a monthly income?

I assume you are talking about a natural (birth) guardianship and not a court appointed one.

That being the case you have to prove why the parents are not proper to be parents and why the proposed guardian is.

Adoption is one process - a 15 year old has the right to consent to the adoption in NYS.

First that child would have to bring an action for emancipation or the other person must petition in the family court for custody. In the case of a minor, it is not guardianship unless the natural parents are dead or the court has removed the minor from the parents.
