Legal Question in Family Law in New York

rights of a 17 yr. old

My daughter who is 17 left home volintarily. I believe she has some emotional issues that need addressed. She is still in high school. I have been told by the sherrifs dept. and child protective services I cannot leagally force her to come home. Is there a way I can force her to get professional counseling to address her issues, perhaps through family court?

They misinformed you. You can certainly go to Family court and file a PINS petition, seeking help with getting her services.
