Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Sending information to ex spouse

I am the custodial parent, with full custody. My ex-husband and girlfriend are demanding that I send them copies of the kids school report cards, medical records, (my daughter just recently broke her arm). Writen notice if I take the kids out of the state for vacations etc. Am I required to submit this information to him?

Re: Sending information to ex spouse

Your specific duties depend on the order or agreement giving you custody. In any case, I advise all parents to be as cooperative and communicative as possible with eachother in all matters concerning their children. If a dispute escalates and you wind up in court, both parties risk losing any control they have and will certainly lose time and money. Feel free to call me at 212-367-9167 to schedule a free consultation if you wish to discuss your particular matter.

Good luck,
