Legal Question in Family Law in New York

separate property?

i am filing for divorce. When I got married I received some jewelry(earrings,bracelets,rings...) as a wedding gifts from relatives. Some relatives gave them to me before the wedding and some after the wedding. I would like to know if the jewelry received before the wedding and after are considered separate property or the jewelry received after the wedding will be considered marital property?

Re: separate property?

Gifts received for the wedding are usually classified as marital property. Gifts given before the marriage are separate property.
