Legal Question in Family Law in New York
I have been separated from my spouse for fourteen years and would like to know if I can be granted a divorce immediately and have the terms settled at a later date?

Technically, for an uncontested divorce, the answer would be no. For a divorce based on grounds (abandonment, adultery, etc.) the answer should be yes. However, courts generally want a disposition on all issues at the same time.
