Separated 3yrs not legally, now hubby is in nursing home

Hubby lives upstate new york, I live in Brooklyn NY, Now

hubby is in nursing home. I want to legally separate from

my hubby, nursing home is trying to make me pay for some bills at the nursing home. I live on ssi disability, also

have a medicade card, I have no money to pay for a nursing

home, my hubby has been in nursing home for 3 mos. Now he

just received a medicare card, that won't activate until

sep 1,05. Nursing home said we'll still married, even tho

separate for 5yrs, can I get a legal separation now, don't want to be responsible for his bills, I'm on SSi...

Can you help me, what should I do, can I not be responsible for hubby bills. Like I said he lives upstate

and I have a brooklyn address, we are separated, not legally.

Thanks

Beverly

For you to get a separation, you and your husband will have to agree and sign an agreement. Will he agree? You can contact me at [email protected] or call my office at 518-383-1182 to schedule a consultation to discuss this matter.
