Legal Question in Family Law in New York
Separation Agreement
If you have a separtation agreement that simply states ''Wife's name'' and ''Husband's Name'' married on ''this date'' ''agree to a separation'', have it signed and notorized, can you later go back and draw up a detail separation describing the financial and property commitments or is it too late? We mutually agree to separate from one another for a trial period of indefinite time. Agreeing that at such time we feel we have no chance of reconciling we will divorce or make up detailed agreements. Otherwise we can just reques the separation is null and void if we are able to work things out. In our state a simple hand written and notorized form is acceptable as a legal document.
