Legal Question in Family Law in New York

Seperations

Have been in a twenty year relationship, never married. If we seperate do/can I claim rights to the home, finacially. House is in partners name only. We have a child together. Am I entitled to anything??

In my opinion, you do not have any right to any portion of the house that is not in your name unless you can demonstrate that you put money into the house with an agreement (written would be optimal) that you would get the money back. Short of that since you were not married, you do not get a piece of the family residence that your name is not on the deed. as for your child you can get child support if you are the custodial parent.
